GUSTAV - What?

With all the first week of school activities and schedule changes AND seminary I have had little time to track this big storm. Yesterday night I started getting nervous when my brother called and asked if he could come over for safety reasons. Checked the weather and as usual GOT SCARED! Katrina and Rita ring a bell for anyone???? That "cone" of uncertainty is a little too large for my liking. For those of you in Beaumont... GET THE HECK OUT OF THERE before traffic conditions are BAD! Rob refuses to board up the windows again since Rita left us with only a few raindrops to his day and a half of boarding up...so I might have to get on that HIGH ladder come Monday if this storm turns. ANYWAY, those of you who know me KNOW I am a serious weather nerd and this has got my attention. Let's not down play the fact that 2 more storms are behind this one!!!! The kids are just hoping for more "Rita Rolls" (homemade cinnamon rolls), Guitar Hero Show down, and a few days off of school. I for one am hoping we make it through if it does turn and maybe even get a few extra hours of sleep that I missed out on last week.
PRAY FOR THE JOHNSON'S (and everyone on the Gulf Coast)!!!!

First Day of School DRAMA

Okay...can we even get through a day of school before one of my kids gets hurt??? To start off, I didn't get my yearly "off to school" photo of my kids because we were rushed and I had to volunteer at the High School...NOT HAPPY about that, but worse is what happened after school. Krista and Leanna were out in the backyard playing when Krista stepped on the above RUSTY screwdriver! It went in about 1/2" or more and she started "Drama Crying" of course (I do have sympathy since I am the queen of that, however, it was a bit much at the end of a long day). She soaked it in Epsom Salt for a while crying in pain, but soon settled down to hug the beloved stuffed animal "Bun Bun" she has had since birth. She is so funny about that old thing! Anyway, this morning it looked worse and we soaked it again. She crawled upstairs...drama thing again...and "tried" to get ready for school, but really, she couldn't walk on it. We are headed to the Doctor for a shot (if needed) and an assessment of her condition. I guess what I am saying is MAKE YOUR KIDS WEAR SHOES OUTSIDE! You never know when a random nail or screwdriver is lurking in the grass! We'll keep you posted on her condition.

Some day this week I WILL get my first day of school photo!

We went to the Houston Temple early this morning at 7am to do baptisms. Angelita's first time at the temple was wonderful and we feel so blessed to have the blessing of witnessing this special moment for her. We walked around the temple grounds and took some pictures until it started pouring rain. Lucky for us it stopped long enough to get some shots for memories. The Brown family and also the missionaries who helped in Angelita's conversion came along as well. VERY COOL!
What a wonderful day for our family.
