SET YOUR CALENDARS!!!!

It's official...Lamar High School is putting on Beauty and the Beast December 11th,12th, and 13th. WADE has been cast as the lead...BEAST and Krista is CHIP the teacup. This is quite funny since that is the part she didn't want because she would have to be a "boy". We call her Chip-pet for short, as a joke. She really is glad about it now because she found out that it is the only solo/speaking role for a kid so now she feels special. The shock of the day is that Leanna tried out with a strong vocal audition and is SO glad to be in the musical as a singer in the production number BE OUR GUEST. BUSY months ahead for me, but at least they are all in the same place at the same time! SO, ALL ARE WELCOMED TO JOIN US FOR A GREAT PRODUCTION December 11,12 or 13th. Race for the Cure-2008

This weekend was SUPER special for us. We got to walk with a dear, sweet friend and sister in our ward, Kathy Richardson who was diagnosed with Cancer this year. We support her and loved sharing this special event with her and the other gals in our ward as we walked with over 30,000 others hoping to find a cure for Breast Cancer. It was emotional for me to watch so many support this cause. I couldn’t help but remember my dear mother-in-law, Maryann Johnson, and her personal struggle she lost from this horrible disease 15 years ago. I was renewed watching Kathy press forward with faith and unwavering hope that she can beat this thing - just like Maryann. It's a reminder to us all that life is short, but it can be oh so sweet with friends and family who love you and support you. Never take anything for granted and live for today. Our dear prophet, Thomas S. Monson said that as well. Live for today - not tomorrow. Make the most of the moment and live a Christ-like life. Kathy is such an example of this and even greater example of hope. After the race, she picked up a free bag with goodies in it. As she rummaged through, she found samples of shampoo and conditioner. Laughing she said, "What do I need this for?". I told her it is a symbol of hope. Hope that everything will return. It will. She is strong and we are proud of her and her determination. Leanna and Krista want to do this every year. Next year they want to run it instead of walking. Mostly because we as the “walkers” were last of that 30K crowd and didn't get the free treats at the end! However, they had a wonderful spirit about them. Leanna wrote a cute chant that we all shouted as we crossed over the line at the beginning and all through the race. It goes..."Here we are on Saturday, we are going the whole way. Sammy's hope we walk with pride, 3 whole miles side by side. Who are we? - Sammy's Hope. Who are we? - Sammy's Hope. Who are we? - Sammy's hope...YEAH!!!" Most of us complained that it was more than a 5K. Seemed more like a 10K to me. Next year I am bringing my pedometer to see if I was right...anyway, it was a wonderful experience and we thank all who participated and supported us in this cause.
